Building Department COVID-19 update

All Town Offices and Departments located at the Municipal Building are open as of July 13, 2020.

The Building Department is still accepting permit applications which are available here. You can also email the application to the Department Coordinator, place your application in the drop box, send by mail to Building Department, 10 Grandview Road, Bow, NH 03304. Payment can be submitted with the application to the drop box or mailed. If you are not sure about the fee to be paid, please wait to hear back from staff.

Effective April 19, 2021 inspection in person inspections will resume. Please call or email the numbers on the permit to schedule/inquire.


Our mission is to provide reasonable and enforceable building, land use codes and ordinances that promote orderly development of our community; to enforce such ordinances in an equitable, professional and timely manner; to promote public awareness and understanding of the codes and ordinances, and to continually maintain and update existing codes and ordinances in order to maintain the health, safety and well being of the citizens of Bow.


  • Receive applications for Building Permits
  • Verify compliance with applicable regulations and codes
  • Issue permits
  • Conduct inspections
  • Respond to building code complaints
  • Issue Certificates of Occupancy and Use


Proposed Zoning Amendment to Article 14.03 is in effect as of January 11, 2019 (pending Town Meeting vote in March). The new requirement is to provide a plot plan that shall be prepared and certified by a licensed land surveyor for permits for any new residence.
