The Building Inspector is responsible for:

• Receiving applications for Building Permits
• Verifying compliance with applicable regulations and codes
• Issuing permits
• Conducting inspections
• Responding to building code complaints
• Issuing Certificates of Use and Occupancies

Codes Enforced:

The Town of Bow Zoning Ordinance authorizes the Building Inspector to Enforce the State of New Hampshire Building Code.

The Town Manager shall appoint a Building Inspector to administer, interpret and enforce the provisions of the Town of Bow Building Code, which includes the State of New Hampshire Building Code as contained within NHRSA 155-A, as may be amended from time to time {which includes as of the date of this ordinance the 2009 Editions of the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, International Energy Code, and the International Residential Code, and the 2008 Edition of the National Electrical Code [National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70] }. In the Absence of the Building Inspector, these duties will be performed by the Town Manager or designee. The Chief of Police, Fire Chief and Town Health Officer, or their respective departments shall comply with the reasonable requests of the Building Inspector for assistance and cooperation in the administration and enforcement of the Town of Bow Building Code.

Other codes, such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards, are adopted by the State Fire Marshal ’ s office and are in effect in Bow and throughout New Hampshire. These include, but are not limited to the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 54 Natural Gas Code, NFPA 58 Propane Gas Code, NFPA 31 Oil Burning Equipment Code and the NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Code.
