The Recycling and Solid Waste Committee is comprised of all volunteer residents of Bow. Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 pm at the Municipal Building.
The Committee serves as a sounding board for the community for matters dealing with recycling and solid waste. For complaints or comments regarding household trash or recycling pickup, please call the hauler first, and then report them to the Committee to help ensure their timely resolution.

The committee's regular duties include:
- Sending Welcome Letters to new homeowners in town, including information about trash and recycling, and a town map.
- Coordinating the Town's Household Hazardous Waste Day collection, usually the first Saturday in October from 9am to 1pm every year, including review of bid proposals and assistance to obtain state grants (up to $2,500) to defray part of the collection costs.
- Sponsoring an annual sale of compost bin sales, to help homeowners reduce trash while creating a useful natural fertilizer for their gardens.
- Promoting recycling and conservation education and efforts in Bow Schools.
- Coordinating recycling for Town ball fields and Community Center activities.
Recycling saves tipping fees for the Town by reducing the waste sent to the incinerator. In 2004, $16,000 was saved thanks to the town's recycling of 689 tons of paper and commingled plastics! We have maintained similar recycling rates in 2005 and 2006 at around 181-184 lb recycled per capita, compared to the state-wide average of 200 lb recycled per capita in 2005. Every pound recycled reduces carbon emissions at the incinerator and conserves valuable natural resources. Please do your part and show that Bow residents are informed and care about the environment!
Thanks in advance for your help,
The Recycling and Solid Waste Committee
