Changes in Plastics Recycling Coverage
Due to a change in recycling facilities for Bow residential waste, only plastics #1 & #2 should be set out for curbside pickup until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your efforts to recycle.

Recycling Notice for Bow Residents
Please note corrected paper / commingled recycling schedule for APRIL 2008.
Remember to look for your new May 2008 - April 2009 recycling schedule with this year's Town Report.

WEEKLY TRASH COLLECTION - GREEN TOTER
Set out by 6:30 AM. All regular BAGGED household trash, including:

Alkaline batteries NO TVs or Computer Monitors after July 1, 2007. Save for Household Hazardous Waste Day collection in October.
Tires - 2 at a time, no rims
Dry Latex Paint NO items >50lbs or bigger than 2ft x 2ft. Take to Transfer Station.

WEEKLY RECYCLING - BLUE BIN
Mixed Paper (P) and Commingled Containers (C) are collected on alternate weeks
(see above).

(P) MIXED PAPER, PAPERBOARD & CARDBOARD
Paper - Anything that tears! Bundle in brown paper bags to prevent from flying away.
Corrugated Cardboard - flatten and cut to 2ft x 2ft, place to the side of the bin.

(C) COMMINGLED CONTAINERS -rinsed and flattened
• Milk and juice jugs, cartons, cans, bottles, pans, trays, aluminum, tin cans.
• Plastics #1 & #2 only (verify recycle arrows)
NO Plastic bags - please recycle at your local supermarket.
NO ceramic dishes, light bulbs, or broken glass.

TRANSFER STATION
Public Works Facility, 12 Robinson Rd., Saturdays 9 to 3 pm, 228-2207, 228-1201

Scrap Metal: bikes, lawn chairs, tools, car parts, household appliances.
Used Motor Oil (oil only!) - Save other car fluids for Hazardous Waste Day in October.
Bulky or Heavy Trash: Old furniture, mattresses, etc.
Propane Tanks: Regular barbeque or smaller propane tanks.
Fluorescent Bulbs: All unbroken bulbs.
NO cardboard (goes with paper curbside) or building debris (see below).

Additional Recycling Information for Bow, NH - July 2007 update

ALL PLASTIC BAGS - Bundle and drop off at supermarket recycle (most Concord supermarkets).

LEAVES & YARD CLIPPINGS - Compost or Mulch. Take large cuttings and Xmas trees to Brush Dump.

BRUSH DUMP - Allen Road close to Bow Bog end, 9 AM to 3 PM, April thru Dec., 2nd Saturdays only. Also open EVERY Saturday in May and October. Tree cuttings and brush up to 4 ft long x 5 inch diameter.

BRUSH >4ft, TREE STUMPS & BUILDING MATERIALS - Concord Transfer Station, 77 Old Turnpike Road. M-W-F 8 to 4, Thu 8-1, Sat 8-3.

PRINTER CARTRIDGES TONERS & CELL PHONES - Drop off at the Bow Community Center Rec. Dept. or Bow Middle School (box in front lobby or c/o Mrs Heath). Recycle funds go to Bow Schools.

BATTERIES - Alkaline batteries go with the regular trash. Re-chargeable batteries: Drop off at Community Ctr / Rec Dept. Office. Lead batteries: Save for Household Hazardous Waste Collection in October.

AUTOMOTIVE BATTERIES - Take to Bow Auto Salvage at 224-8400 or Advanced Recycling at 225-2267, or save for Household Hazardous Waste Collection in October.

TV & COMPUTER MONITORS - Banned from state landfills effective July 1, 2007. Bring to Household Hazardous Waste Collection in October.

USED CLOTHES & TOYS - Clean and in plastic bags, please. Place in bins behind the Community Ctr. Take large and fragile items directly to the agencies in Concord. Please do not leave items outside the bins.

PACKING PEANUTS - Pack in plastic bags or large box and take to UPS on So. Main St., Concord.

OLD CELL PHONES - Any type/any service, bring to Verizon Wireless, Ft.Eddy Rd Plaza, Concord.

MERCURY THERMOMETERS or any mercury product - Will be exchanged for digitals at the Wheelabrator Plant, 11 Whitney Rd.
Penacook, Rte 93, Exit 17, Turn R, then first L: Weekdays 8 to 4:30. Call 753-8411 for information.

OLD SNEAKERS FOR PLAYGROUND SURFACES - Any type w/o metal parts – bring to Town Hazardous Waste Day OR mail to: George & Phillips, 173 Water St, Exeter NH 03833, Tel. 772-3156 or Ted’s Shoe & Sport, 115 Main St., Keene NH 03431, Tel. 357-8337.
